The multi-categorical support unit at Campbelltown East Public School has four classes with a total enrolment of 28 students. It provides specialist and intensive support for eligible students diagnosed with a mild intellectual disability and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder. Each support class has a teacher and a school learning support officer (SLSO), and every student has planning undertaken for their personalised learning and support that captures their needs and goals.
Students in the support unit at CEPS have the same opportunities as students in mainstream classes to participate in the school’s activities, such as school sports and assemblies. Whilst all students access the NSW curriculum covering the six Key Learning Areas additionally, Campbelltown East support unit has their own student kitchen which supports their unique Living Skills Program. Enrolment into the support unit is through the access request process and is considered by a local support class panel at district level.
