The library at Campbelltown East Public School is the learning hub of the school, full of quality fiction and non-fiction texts, and home to the school’s computer laboratory. Recently, the library has been able to install a new wall and automatic doors, making our computer lab a whole new learning space within our school. All students come to the library once a week for a library lesson, focussing on literacy, information technology and research skills. Students have the opportunity to access the computer lab during lunch breaks.
Our school librarian is Mrs Shuttleworth, and our library is open Monday to Friday. Our library encourages to borrow each week, and instils responsibility within our students by encouraging the use of library bags, and remembering to return books, as well.
The library runs many programs, encouraging our students to develop a lifelong love of reading. We participate in the NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge and National Simultaneous Storytime, as well as hosting two Scholastic Book Fairs a year, one of which coincides with Book Week and our whole school parade. Scholastic Book Fairs are an opportunity to raise money to purchase books for our school library collection.
